Evaluation question 4
The software we used is called Imovie and it was an easy and effective way of editing our final piece, we were able to add in transitions and quick cuts to compliment the music. The software was reliable and we were impressed with the editing facilities available. We also used the slow down and speed up editing facility which is evident in our music video.
We used A macbook to do all of the editing on, the quick new technology was easy to use and made it fast for us to edit. The macbook was also very easy to transfer videos to and from as it had a lot of storage and no complications. The macbook had Imovie installed and that is where we were able to edit on.
We also used an Iphone 6 to do the filming. From experience of last year we decided to use the Iphone 6 as we knew it wes reliable and had a high definition camera which made our media work even better and effective.
We used Youtube to upload our video onto when finished but also used it for researching and planning. We were able to gather information about our genre of music and find out the various conventions used for effect. We were able to refer to this research and planning when we were filming therefore able to improve our work.
We also used Photoshop in order to create and edit our Digipak. Photoshop allowed us to make an attraction and appeal to our target audience by adding texts and images which compliment our music video and the chosen song.
We also used Google when research and planning to search our artist and the lyrics so we had a better understanding of them. Once we had researched the artist and the lyrics we were able to put them into our video which made fitting the scenes we had planned for a lot easier.
We also used Blogger to record our research and planning and were able to refer to it at later times this benefited us as we were able to change certain parts of our music video in order to fit the genre of house music and use the conventions associated.

Evaluation question 3.
Our initial idea was a very strong one and so we decided to stay with what we thought would be effective. The feedback we received initially was positive and helped us out in what kind elements of young peoples lives we were going to include. We realised that everyone can relate to love and therefore choosing a song that was about love and heart break but at the same time had a strong element of dance proved to be popular among my peers. This was a big thing for us and we considered this greatly when planning, our main concern was to appeal to youth as that is our target audience.
When viewing our rough drafts of the piece we realised we needed to include elements that would promote youth and its high and low points. We included car scenes because that is a big part of growing up. On the other hand we included a break up which is a low point in a teenagers/ young adults life which in compliment with the lyrics works well. The idea was to create a video that people could watch in any mood whether they're upset to boost their mood and one that people can relate too or when they are in a partying mood a summer anthem that will get them dancing.
In the questionnaire we made we asked if they liked the genre of music we were doing which was house and then we also asked if they like to go to clubs. With this gathered information and results we were able to conclude that people around me do enjoy going out and dancing therefore we emulated that tone in our music video to attract and please our target group.

evaluation question 1
Titles
Our ending shot on our music video is our title. This is the name of the song and the artist that the song belongs to. We made the font white and the background black. This was done in order for the title shot to go with the first half of the music video, being black and white. We also created this in this way so that it links in with the title of the song, promesses which is about broken promises in love which goes with the black and white theme of the titles. On this shot, there is an argument that is muffled to show the storyline of the music video.
A music video that we was inspired by for this title idea at the start of our video was Section Boyz . This has been done in this music video in order to set the story up to the audience, we have done it in our music video to give the opportunity to show the audience who produced that specific song and for effect.
Costumes and props
From our research and planning we were able to understand the clothing a typical person who likes house music and include it into our video. The car in the background also gives the scene a sense of an urban background which we wanted to include to appeal to mass audience. The shoes of the dancer in the scene are very important as 'huaraches' are notoriously known for being trainers that people cut shapes in so we had complied with the generic conventions.
As you can see in this popular house music, music video its very similar to ours. In an urban environment wearing generic clothing of a dancer cutting shapes. They are very similar and this is to please the audience of house music lovers but also to entice people into the culture like this song famously did.
Narrative/Story
The opening scene shows a young couple getting into a brand new expensive car, from this you can already sense a feeling of youth culture. The kiss reveals to the audience they are a couple and that sets up the storyline and the forthcoming events in the music video. Also the Adidas sports wear shows the audience a that this will be an energetic video and will be dancing etc in the video what will draw the audience in and keep them watching to compliment the mystery of the young couple.
In contrast to this scene where by you can see a family eating breakfast but the conventions are the same. You can see a few main characters revealed in both videos and they are both stationary at the start of the video creating optimism.
Characters/ star Image
In the scene you can see the two main characters arguing. The focus all on them two and this is what we wanted to create, the idea of importance of the two teenagers arguing. You can see one of the main characters is an athletic young man wearing sports clothing which fits in with the genre conventions perfectly and a beautiful young lady which attracts the audiences attention. The male is seen as aggressive and energetic which gives the video excitement.
Here you can also see the male head of attention in the shot and very much energetic and dancing. However the contrast between the two is the background, the image has an aesthetic background where as the top one has an authentic feel as it is shot in public, this goes with the conventions of our music genre and the contrast is apparent because the two pictures are from different genres
Relationship between lyrics and video
Our music video was very much based on research of the lyrics, after understanding that the song was about broken promises we included varuous scenes that demonstrated this. One of the more important scenes is the ring ( a symbol of love) being thrown on the floor to show the seperation and the devalue of their love as the male walks off. The idea is that he had cheated which goes with the lyrics perfectly and compliments the imagery.
As you can see in this image they are also using imagery to show what is going on in the lyrics however this is a rap music video and they are using digital technology to give the illusion that a gun is being shot but it compliments the lyrics being sang. This is different to our music video because we have used physical actions to create the reflection of lyrics being sang but this could be due to the different conventions in each genre of music
Setting location: Throughout our music video we included a number of different settings. We did this in order to show the contrast of a lifestlye that the male character now lives. for example the main character was always in close proximity of his parter whether that be on a walk or in a car. Once the couple are no longer together there are much different settings in scenes such as: nightclubs. Nightclubs are a convention that feautres a lot in house music videos due to the up beat song it fits really well

This shows the audience that the characeter lives a much different lifestyle that he would have when he was with his girlfriend.
A location we shot a lot was at Werrington skatepark, reason for this was because of the graffiti we felt would be pleasing to the teenage audience that we were trying to reach out to initially. The skatepark was at our advantage as we could capture different camera angles and also the strong white LED lighting helped express the character when dancing.

Technical Aspects:
At this point in our video we used a rural setting to express the characters emotions of lonely. We also used this to create lyrical word play on ‘if the rain was coming’ which suggests if all hell was about to break loose in a relationship. therefore with this setting we used pathetic fallacy to show this.
When editing we used the software ‘IMovie’ on my Macbook pro. due to the conventions of house music videos being very fast paced, we collated multiple shots of similar scenes and shortened them to create that fast paced ‘dancey’ mood. To move away from such fast paced scenes we would either fade to black or white (depending on how much lighting was in the next scene) to show different elements of narrative. In one scene where there are 3 thuggish looking males, as the music pace speeds up i sped the video up by 8x and then faded to white for the next scene that had continuity due to the stobe light and fast paced actions.

Genre: The genre we decided to choose was ‘House’ for our music video. the conventions of house music videos are fast paced clubbing scenes, women with minimal clothing jumping/dancing around, pools, UV paint, flashing lights, drinking with a wild and crazy atmosphere. Dancing plays an important role in dance music videos as this is the main fact that dance videos are played in clubs. From the
conventions we used our friend Kane who was studying the urban house genre dance at college. With his knowledge we pieced together a fast paced (cutting shapes as some people commonly call it) routing to fit with our music video.
A real life example is from the music video ‘House Every Weekend’ in this scene is a group of dancers going wild!
Representation: Here in the scene where had 3 males next to a graffiti walls with their identity remaining unkown, the camera is also unfocused to create a blur which enhances the representation of mystery for this scene which shows a completely different side to the main character that we have previsously seen before. a similar video to this is by london gang ’67’ in their video they represent themselves with such
mob mentality and also keeping their identity incredibly secretive by wearing masks or completely covering their face with a prop/outfit/themselves.Thursday, 28 April 2016

Here is an example of rapper ‘Tinie Tempah’s’ album called discovery
At first glance we immediately know that the house colour is purple and of multiple shades of it due to the ‘space/galactic’ theme which fits well with the title being discovery as people are still yet to discover what’s in space.
Tinie Tempah is centred largely on the front colour with a glow around him, this gives off a holy importance to the album. In his arms it appears he is holding a city. this could imply that he has discovered cities and has all the power in the palm of his hands maybe?
You can also clearly see Tinie Tempahs jewellery, from the glasses to the bracelet and the watch. all of which fit well with the conventions of rap as its commonly shown in rap videos.
On the back the space theme is spread throughout and the bold white text helps contrast it so that you can see the text clearer, also on the back is the generic bar code.

For the design of my website i had in mind particular websites i was aware of to create a website for free, for example: Weebly, Wix and moonfruit. Weebly was my first to look at and instantly fell in love. with its slick yet simple design with a diverse amount of editing tools as you can see on the left sidebar. It was simple and straight forward to use with its step by step assistance within 5 minutes of jotting a few bits of information down i had already created most of my website!
Here is the link to my website: http://rizzolukea2media.weebly.com/

Here is an example of a groups website within the same music genre. This is Gorgon City’s webpage: http://www.gorgoncity.com/
Some noticeable conventions that I took into consideration were:
Some noticeable conventions that I took into consideration were:
- Design – Its design was simple and had a house colour which ran through the large image of the group and its logo.
- Tabs and links – on the top bar there are clear tabs to direct you to what you are looking for. Down below in the bottom right corner
- Simplicity – Which each click the page drops down further to each section which is a nice transition and appealing to the eye.
- Record Label – Along with terms of use, cookie info there is the display of the record label.

This is the front (right) back (left) and spine (middle) of my digi pack i have created.
This is the front (right) back (left) and spine (middle) of my digi pack i have created.

And here is the inside of the digi pack. i have used images from the music video to express continuity throughout all media. The front cover is a very symbolic scene that most viewers will remember as it is the most dramatic and the couple break up in such a sudden way. on the inside the top and bottom was a vehicle that features a lot in the music video, aswell as the establishing scene of a rural area i thought due to the clouds the lyrics ‘if the rain was coming’ fits really well in the digi pack. Lastly where the cd sits i have an image of the two actors holding hands. This is a refference to the srtist ‘Tchami’ as one of tchami’s house logo is a picture of a
hand in an obscure way.
hand in an obscure way.

Here is our website, as its only a image its more difficult to describe. however, again i used that main image of the break up which has continuity throughout the video, digipack and the website. the website offers all information, details, surveys and more on tchami and the video and ourselves!

Roles, Actors, Costumes
Kane Gracey (Friend)
17
Studies dance at Peterborough Regional College and also studied dance throughout GCSE’s at Ken Stimpson Community School. His studies help compliment our music video as he is learning the genre ‘House’ right now! Kane says to include house dance moves such as ‘Jacking’
Kane will be wearing casual going out clothes while ‘cutting shapes’ but then will switch outfits in party scenes.

Tilly Sharman (Friend)

Tilly is in full time employment but at school she studied drama for GCSE, She also drives an Audi. Her flashy car helps build an aesthetic for a ‘classy’ girl which we are trying to portray in her character.
Tilly will be wearing formal clothing.

Tilly will be wearing formal clothing.
Tilly will be wearing a ring which will symbolise the ‘Promise’ of their relationship
There is a party scene which will involve a large group of friends.
Risk Assessment
We took a few scenes at our local skatepark, we had to be careful that when kane was dancing that there was nothing he could slip on. Winter was dawning when filming therefore we had to make sure there was none around him.
In the scenes where Tilly is driving we had to ensure there was no one in the car park (just incase no idiots tried to interrupt)
Roles
Me and my partner Luke Rizzo will be directing the video and will be editing the film. We will divide the editing, directing and filming evenly. I have access to a mac which has ‘IMovie’ which i believe is better at editing than the software we offer at school so i will have the majority of control of the editing as i have more experience. Where as Jake will film more as I will be playing a small role in the video itself therefore I will take main control of filming. I am more than comfortable to film as I filmed all of my AS media project and feel as if I have the necessary skill set to produce a high quality music video. We will both produce the music video together and both have an even say in the direction of the production.
Actors
Other than the main actors listed above we will be using a number of our friends for the party scenes to create the party vibe which compliments the music and then using two other friends a boy and a girl to argue which visually narrates the lyrics to give a deeper meaning to the song.
Costumes
The song appeals to the younger audience therefore will be wearing outfits which reflect teenagers/ young adults exclusive fashion to both appeal and inspire the audience.
